Help! I’m Trapped in a Nutshell!

Hi. I am an actor, a culinarian, a writer, and podcast host currently living in NYC.

I completed my acting training at NYU Tisch School of the Arts where I studied the Meisner technique for three years. I also studied at Stonestreet Film Studios’ residency program and at the Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute where I focused on film acting and techniques. I have minors in philosophy and politics and can talk your ear off about how philosophy, politics, and drama are entwined.

But you can find all that on my resume. Let’s get to the more personal stuff.

I don’t spend my leisurely time like a typical 22 year old. In fact, I never spent my time the way a “normal” person did for my age. When I was 6 years old, I developed a fascination with vacuum cleaners; I got one for Christmas and my birthday every year for 4 years, and my 9th birthday party was in an Oreck store. We lined up all the vacuums, from least to most expensive, and tested how many sweeps it’d take for each one to suck up the same pile of dirt.

The passion I had for vacuum cleaners has been channeled into many different things throughout my life. I am a “culinarian” — I use that term to describe myself because cook sounds too casual, but chef feels too professional, considering I’ve never had any formal training. Two things about me: I never go to the grocery store with a list and I never use a recipe.

I am a passionate antique collector and music connoisseur. My apartment walls are decorated with some of my favorite records, from Billy Joel’s Turnstiles to Carole King’s Tapestry to Lana Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell!. My favorite possession is an Edison Standard phonograph that I bought from the Mechanical Music Extravaganza in Wayne, NJ, with the money I made from picking weeds in the summer of 5th grade.

I’m not interested in celebrities or award ceremonies. I’m interested in life. A relentless curiosity about the world around me is what fuels me as an actor. People often ask me why I chose to study acting, and the reason is because it’s the only career that functions as a vessel for all my other passions; every new thing that I learn, interest that I acquire, or person that I meet expands my worldview and allows me to embody characters with a greater sense of truthfulness.

My favorite show is Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. I was an attorney and character witness on the Mock Trial Team at NYU. My dream is to write and star in a legal drama.
