I started as a journalist…

…writing articles for my high school newspaper, where I served as the opinion editor and then editor-in-chief. Discovering journalism was one of those miraculous moments in which you realize that something you love (talking to people and listening to their stories) can become something tangible. My background in journalism has taught me that the only way to tell people’s stories is to get really good at listening to them.

When I started my high school’s Mock Trial program way back in 2017, my writing expanded to the art of opening and closing statements and cross examinations. I carried those skills over onto the NYU Mock Trial team where I was an attorney and character witness. When I was writing my cookbook, I got really into the evolution of recipe writing and food writing in general. These days, I’ve been focusing on dramatic writing. I use the lessons from my time in journalism and “the art of a good interview” to inform the stories I tell through dialogue. Sometimes, I’ll post a piece of writing here.
